Doulas4CT

The Advocacy team are Doulas that act as the actual feet and hands of the coalition. Through this work we will develop and foster relationships and collaborations across sectors that can advocate for equitable access to Doula care; support legislation and policy that promotes sustainable income for Black Doulas.

What is Doula?

A Doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, informational, and logistical support to a pregnant person and their partner during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period to help them achieve the best birth outcomes. The doula’s purpose is to help birthing persons have a safe, memorable and empowering birth experience. Doulas provide continuity of care and mitigate institutionalized racism in the medical setting.
